Lenticule extraction technique spares stronger parts of cornea, lowering risk of secondary ectasia

PARIS β€” ReLex small incision lenticule extraction, developed by Carl Zeiss Meditec, is the only photoablation technique that might realistically be expected to reduce the risk of secondary ectasia, according to one surgeon here. β€œIt is the only technique that preserves the Bowman, the anterior and middle stroma,” Etienne Hachet, MD, said at the meeting of the French Society of Ophthalmology.
