New OSN blogger: Priya Narang on complex cataract cases

Namaste — greetings — from India. Let me introduce myself as an enthusiastic surgeon and blogger who has been imparted with a wonderful and much-awaited role of presenting challenging and complex cases in cataract surgery, while also showcasing some unique case reports. Challenging cases often test our surgical skill and spontaneity during surgery. For my first blog post, I would like to show a case history of a 6-year-old with a history of trauma and vision dimness in the right eye. The child had a corneal tear, and the repair was undertaken by the referring surgeon. The preoperative status of the patient was marked by an irregular corneal tear with a shallow anterior chamber, posterior synechia and mature cataract with phacodonesis. Ultrasound biomicroscopy was done, and it depicted vitreous hemorrhage. Visual acuity at the time of presentation was light perception, and IOP was 20 mm Hg.
