Grid-wise analyses of RNFL thickness superior for early stage glaucoma diagnosis

Grid-wise analyses of retinal nerve fiber layer thickness were superior in determining the diagnosis of early stage glaucoma, using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography, a study found. The study included 89 eyes with open-angle glaucoma and 89 age-matched normal eyes that underwent SD-OCT to examine peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness. RNFL thickness was measured using the grid method, the annulus method or the circle method.
