Surgeon advises preoperative topography for all patients undergoing cataract surgery

AMSTERDAM — Corneal topography results were abnormal in 25% of patients with no prior history of corneal refractive surgery, according to a presenter.In a study of both eyes of 200 consecutive patients, William B. Trattler, MD, and colleagues masked and evaluated preoperative topography results of patients scheduled for cataract surgery. All topography was done with the Magellan corneal topographer (Nidek) and all surgeries were performed by the same surgeon.
