High myopic LASIK with cross-linking minimizes postop increase in epithelial thickness

Prophylactic corneal collagen cross-linking in combination with high myopic LASIK yielded a lower increase in epithelial thickness than LASIK alone, a study found. The prospective study included 139 eyes: 67 eyes underwent femtosecond laser-assisted LASIK with adjunctive corneal cross-linking, and 72 eyes underwent femtosecond laser-assisted LASIK alone. Investigators assessed three-dimensional optical coherence tomography measurements of epithelial thickness over the center 2-mm diameter disc, mid-peripheral 5-mm rim and overall 6-mm diameter disc area.
