Recurrent corneal erosion syndrome linked to various causative factors
Recurrent corneal erosion syndrome was attributed to diverse etiologies and presented in several locations, according to a study. “Interestingly, a significant number of [recurrent corneal erosion syndrome] patients begin to manifest the syndrome after keratorefractive surgery, and a high percentage of patients also present with [meibomian gland dysfunction],” the study authors wrote. The retrospective study included 117 eyes of 100 patients diagnosed with recurrent corneal erosion syndrome (RCES). Mean patient age was 44.5 years.
