Exfoliation syndrome linked to sunlight exposure

Ocular exposure to sunlight may be an important risk factor for exfoliation syndrome, according to findings from a study. Researchers conducted the clinic-based, case-control study in the United States and Israel. All study participants were white and older than 60 years.In the U.S., the study included 118 patients with exfoliation syndrome (XFS) and 106 controls.
