Internationally renowned retinal specialist discusses Argus II retinal implant
Allen C. Ho, MD, director of clinical retina research at Wills Eye Hospital, explains the Argus II retinal prosthesis system. The implant is an epiretinal prosthesis surgically implanted in and on the eye that includes an antenna, an electronics case, and an electrode array. Ho reports much success restoring a degree of vision to patients suffering from retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative eye disease causing severe vision impairment and blindness.
