First patient implanted with STARflo glaucoma drainage device

iStar Medical announced that the first patient from its multicenter European clinical study has been implanted successfully with the STARflo glaucoma drainage device, according to a company press release.STARflo is a nondegradable, precision-pore implant made from STAR biomaterial designed to operate as a bleb-free, microporous drainage system to reduce IOP by augmenting the natural uveoscleral outflow of the eye. The study will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the STARflo device in patients with open-angle glaucoma, according to the release.
