In France, use of intracameral antibiotics increases while cases of acute postoperative endophthalmitis decrease

Increased use of intracameral antibiotic injections yielded a decreased incidence of acute postoperative endophthalmitis after phacoemulsification over a 10-year period, according to a study in France.Investigators used data from a national administrative database in France to examine not only the incidence of acute postoperative endophthalmitis but also the use of cefuroxime injection and the number of phacoemulsification cataract surgeries conducted.
