Abbott reports $4.9 billion in worldwide sales in first quarter

Abbott reported $4.9 billion in worldwide sales in the first quarter, a 5.1% increase on an operational basis and a 0.2% decrease on a reported basis compared with the previous year, according to a press release. U.S. sales increased 1.9%, partly because of a 7.5% increase in Medical Optics, while international sales increased 6.6% on an operational basis and decreased 1.2% on a reported basis.
