Humayun, MD, PhD, received the National Medal of Technology and Innovation from President Barack Obama on May 19, according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology.Humayun, of USC Roski Eye Institute, was recognized for his role in developing the Argus II retinal prosthesis (Second Sight), which restores functional vision in patients with retinitis pigmentosa.
