Ultrahigh-speed 25-gauge system reduces core vitrectomy time

An ultrahigh-speed cut rate 25-gauge system can significantly reduce core vitrectomy time in eyes undergoing vitreoretinal surgery when compared with a standard cut rate 25-gauge system, according to a study.Sixty-two eyes were evaluated in the single-center, prospective randomized study. All eyes underwent 25-gauge vitrectomy and were randomized into either a 7,500 cuts per minute (cpm) probes group or a standard 5,000 cpm probes group, with 31 eyes in each group.
