Anti-VEGF injection frequency a key factor in visual outcomes

SAN FRANCISCO — Frequency of anti-VEGF injections has a significant impact on visual outcomes in the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration, according to a poster presented at the American Society of Retina Specialists annual meeting.“There is a ceiling effect, highlighting a limitation of anti-VEGF therapy for nAMD,” lead author Rehan Hussain, MD, and colleagues wrote. “Fewer than nine injections in the first year is associated with worse visual outcomes, highlighting treatment burden as a limitation of anti-VEGF therapy for nAMD.”
