Different riboflavin formulations affect CCT during cross-linking

Isotonic riboflavin with dextran used during cross-linking was found to significantly decrease corneal thickness, while dextran-free isotonic riboflavin significantly increased corneal thickness.
A retrospective study included two groups of patients with progressive keratoconus. Group A consisted of 100 cases that underwent saturation with isotonic riboflavin and dextran, and group B consisted of 100 cases that underwent saturation with isotonic riboflavin with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose.
