Anti-VEGFs may be used to treat retinal arterial macroaneurysms

Intravitreal anti-VEGF injections may be a good option to treat exudative retinal arterial macroaneurysms, according to a study presented at the virtual American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting.
“The treatment accelerates the resolution of perianeurysmal exudates and hemorrhages and gradually obliterates the RAM, avoiding the retinal damage caused by laser photocoagulation,” J. Fernando Arevalo, MD, PhD, said.
Retinal arterial macroaneurysms (RAM) resolve spontaneously in most cases, but if regression does not occur or is late to occur, there is consequent irreversible
