Anterior segment surgeons should be prepared for posterior complications

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii — Even though the majority of anterior segment surgeries proceed smoothly, there is the possibility that posterior segment complications will ensue, either acutely or days to weeks postoperatively, a presenter here said.
“Keep in mind that acute problems can arise,” including subluxated or dislocated lens fragments and suprachoroidal hemorrhage, “along with an array of delayed concerns,” William F. Mieler, MD, said in a presentation at Hawaiian Eye 2022.
