VIDEO: Study investigates incidence of VMT after phakic, pseudophakic and triple DMEK

VILAMOURA, Portugal — At the ESCRS winter meeting, Sarah Zwingelberg, MD, speaks about a study on the incidence of vitreomacular traction following phakic, pseudophakic and triple Descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty.
The study included 1,076 patients, of which 6.5% had preoperative vitreomacular traction (VMT).
“We were able to observe that 12 months after the DMEK procedure, there was a significant decrease of vitreomacular traction in patients with triple DMEK. In contrast to this, there was a slight increase of VMT after phakic and pseudophakic DMEK,” she
