“It is understood that autoimmune diseases like neuromyeltis optica spectrum disorder can disproportionately impact patients of different genetic makeups, with race and ethnicity being one of those important sub-groups,” Mirla Avila, MD, associate professor and director of the Texas Tech Comprehensive Care MS Center, told Healio in an email. “It is important to
