
LOS ANGELES — Performing corneal collagen cross-linking under general anesthesia is an option in pediatric patients and patients with developmental delays.
In this Healio Video Perspective from the ASCRS meeting, Maanasa Indaram, MD, said these patients often present with severe keratoconus and require timely intervention.
“Unfortunately, performing the procedure in clinic may not be an option for this particular patient population because cross-linking requires the patient to lie still and fixate on a target for close to an hour,” she said.
