Beveled arcuate incisions yield ‘strong’ astigmatism correction at 12 months

LOS ANGELES — Femtosecond laser-created beveled arcuate incisions yielded “robust and persistent” astigmatism correction, Joaquin O. De Rojas, MD, ABO, told Healio at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting.
According to De Rojas, beveled arcuate incisions may mitigate issues such as epithelial plugging, wound gaping and fibrosis. A study investigated outcomes in 35 patients with up to 1.6 D of astigmatism at 6 weeks and 12 months.
