HHS abruptly canceled a U.S. Preventive Services Task Force meeting scheduled for today, leading some to question the future of its 16 members.
HHS confirmed the cancelation to Healio but did not comment on whether the meeting would be rescheduled or if the agency plans to reorganize the USPSTF.
The canceled meeting is one of the three times the USPSTF meets in person annually, according to the task force’s procedure manual.
The decision raises concern that the task force may face a similar fate as the CDC’s federal vaccine advisors. (Read more...)
