Trends survey compares global retina treatments

LONG BEACH, Calif. — At the American Society of Retina Specialists annual meeting, Sunir J. Garg, MD, FACS, FASRS, overviewed key findings from the Global Trends in Retina Survey.
According to Garg, it is common practice in the U.S. and some other areas to see patients with inactive age-related macular degeneration once every 12 months for monitoring. However, specialists in some countries will see these patients every 6 months.
Additionally, treatment trends for patients with recalcitrant diabetic macular edema varied between the U.S. and Europe.
