I would like to start by saying that, in the question, the word “mosquitoes” is problematic already because we have more than 3,000 species in the world, and only about 100 of them are responsible for pathogen transmission.
Therefore, when we discuss eradication, we should first clarify what mosquitoes we want to eradicate. The job of an entomologist is to identify the specific target if eradication is in order.
