Is the for-profit model a good idea in eye banking?

It is difficult for me to understand why, after so many years, for-profit entities should still be a point of contention in eye banking.
The initial impetus for this debate was in 2016, when CorneaGen spun off from SightLife with the goal of spurring innovation and accelerating its mission of eliminating corneal blindness worldwide.
