Excimer laser trabeculostomy reduces IOP at 24 months

COPENHAGEN, Denmark — A combined phaco-excimer laser trabeculostomy procedure helped lower IOP in patients with glaucoma, according to a study presented at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting.
Alice Grise-Dulac, MD, of Hôpital Fondation Rothschild, Paris, said there are many options to treat patients with glaucoma, but with increasing prevalence of the disease and longer life expectancy, more solutions are needed.
“We have known that surgery is often a good solution for these patients for a long time,” she said.
