Through 24 months, scleral bio-reinforced cyclodialysis combined with cataract surgery lowered IOP by enhancing uveoscleral outflow, according to a study published in Ophthalmology Science.
"The uveoscleral pathway is widely recognized as an important anatomical target for intraocular pressure reduction,” study coauthor Robert N. Weinreb, MD, chair and distinguished professor of ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego, told Healio. “These 2-year data reinforce that understanding and highlight the potential of this innovative technology.”
