Five ways to improve as a cataract surgeon

NEW YORK — Ophthalmologists do a few things wrong when it comes to cataract surgery, according to a speaker at OSN New York.
John A. Hovanesian, MD, FACS, said one thing surgeons get wrong is not talking to patients about advanced IOLs.
“That’s not addressing every patient to understand options for lens implants,” he said. “If we don't do that, we're missing an important element for the patient because for the rest of their life, they're going to look through their lens implant. Most patients are interested in learning more about the advanced lenses we use.”
