
ORLANDO — Oral micronutrient supplementation showed no benefit on geographic atrophy lesion growth among a patient group from the OAKS and DERBY trials, according to a speaker.
“We have had many post hoc analyses of recent trials that have shown that, possibly, micronutrients may prevent the growth of geographic atrophy toward the fovea,” Rishi P. Singh, MD, told Healio. “It’s been studied in both AREDS1 and AREDS2 and has led to a bit of excitement in the retina community. The purpose of my investigation was to look at the post hoc analyses of other large randomized clinical trials to see if
