LambdaVision awarded $5 million by NASA to develop artificial retina

LambdaVision, with implementation partner Space Tango, has been selected by NASA to receive $5 million to aid in the development of a vision restoration treatment, according to a press release.
The funds will support the development of a protein-based artificial retina to restore vision in patients who are blind or have lost sight due to advanced retinitis pigmentosa or, in the future, age-related macular degeneration.
The companies will explore the benefits of producing the artificial retina in microgravity on the International Space Station U.S. National Laboratory. Production in microgravity
