Ophthalmology takes the plunge into the metaverse

The 2022 Digital Ophthalmic Society meeting was the first ever eye care conference to be held in a space station, or at least that is what it looked like.
The attendees were able to hop around the galactic convention center and zip around on helicopters because they were in a virtual reality space known as the metaverse. Connecting with colleagues in different parts of the world has become commonplace, particularly because of pandemic-related advances and incentives to stay home.
