KOLOA, Hawaii — Hypersensitivity reactions to injection fillers are rare and unpredictable, but when they occur, clinicians need to know how to manage them, a presenter here said.
“Remember that when you’re injecting, know what you need to do when you run into complications,” Jennifer Murdock, MD, said at Hawaiian Eye 2023.
Lip fillers are becoming increasingly popular, she said.
“Over 2 million people had them in 2018. It is a huge market. There are now 17 [hyaluronic acid] fillers in the U.S. and more and more keep coming out,” Murdock said.
