
A 69-year-old woman was referred to the retina service for abnormal posterior segment findings.
The patient’s medical history was notable for bilateral hearing loss and type 2 diabetes diagnosed 10 years ago. While her HbA1c peaked to 12.7% 2 years prior, it has since remained stable at 5.8% on dulaglutide, empagliflozin and metformin. She moved from Vietnam to the United States 40 years ago. Otherwise, she had no other notable social or family history.
