Monarez a step closer to becoming CDC director

Senators voted along party lines Wednesday to advance the nomination of Susan Monarez, PhD, to be the next CDC director.
The Senate’s Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) committee voted 12-11 in favor of sending the nomination to the full Senate for a confirmation vote. It is the first time the Senate has been tasked with confirming a CDC director.
President Donald J. Trump nominated Monarez in March after withdrawing his previous nominee, former U.S. Representative David Weldon, MD, hours before he was set to testify in a confirmation hearing. (Read more...)
