Structure-function correlation in GA should be studied

ORLANDO — In this video from the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting, Jennifer I. Lim, MD, MBA, discusses a study on the use of OCT and microperimetry in eyes with geographic atrophy.
“I think we need to look at these structure-function correlations when we test new drugs because what we’re trying to do really is treat these sick [retinal pigment epithelium] cells, sick photoreceptor cells, before they completely die off and result in severe atrophy, and this is one way to do it,” Lim, of the University of Illinois Chicago, said.
