PDT monotherapy effective in eyes with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy

Reduced-fluence photodynamic therapy monotherapy maintained or improved visual acuity in polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy patients for 24 months, according to a study.The prospective interventional case series included 38 eyes of 38 patients who underwent PDT with a reduced laser fluence of 25 J/cm2 using the Visulas PDT system 690s (Carl Zeiss Meditec). Patients had no prior therapy for polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy and underwent a mean of 1.9 treatments over 24 months.
