Retinal imaging for amyloid-beta protein may detect Alzheimer’s disease
A proof-of-concept retinal imaging trial to observe particular geometric distribution and an increased burden of retinal amyloid pathology may be a noninvasive tool for the detection of Alzheimer’s disease, according to a study. The trial included retinal amyloid-beta protein deposit plaques of 37 patients with Alzheimer’s disease and healthy controls. The plaques were analyzed in flat mounts and cross sections.
