There is a low risk of mortality within 90 days after cataract surgery, even among high-risk patients, a large study found. "This information may be useful in counseling and medically selecting patients who are contemplating cataract surgery and in guiding public policy decisions regarding indications and expenditure for cataract surgery," the study authors said.
