Costs Related to Vision Loss to Exceed $3.5 Trillion by 2020

Costs related to vision loss are expected to skyrocket in the next 10 years as the global population ages. In particular, ocular morbidity related to the diabetes epidemic will increase, according to a study presented here at the World Ophthalmology Congress 2012. Changes in current allocation of vision-related resources will be required to prevent an ophthalmologic healthcare crisis, researchers warn.
