Keratoplasty for Corneal Endothelial Disease

We read the article by Shtein et al on the rates of keratoplasty for corneal endothelial disease (CED) in a large cohort in the United States with interest. The researchers found that patients with CED had increased odds of undergoing keratoplasty in 2007 through 2009 relative to 2001 through 2006. In addition, individuals with CED who were older, less educated, and more economically disadvantaged were found to have significantly increased odds of undergoing keratoplasty.
