Photodynamic Therapy With or Without Intravitreal Bevacizumab for Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy: Two Years of Follow-up

We read with great interest the article by Lee and associates comparing the efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) with and without intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) injections for the treatment of polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV). We were surprised to see only modest improvement in outcomes with the addition of vascular endothelial growth factor inhibition. Indeed, vascular endothelial growth factor inhibition has been used as an adjunct to PDT with great success in the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
