BLOG: One in four Massachusetts physicians received gifts, industry payments
According to a recent report in TheNew England Journal of Medicine, one in four physicians in Massachusetts received at least one gift or payment from pharmaceutical or medical device companies valued at $50 or more since the commonwealth began tracking these payments in July 2010.Based on an analysis of data reported by drug and medical device companies, the authors determined that 11,734 Massachusetts physicians received a combined $76.7 million in reported payments from July 2009 through December 2011.
