Macular holes may occur after vitrectomy for myopic foveoschisis

Secondary full-thickness macular holes may develop after pars plana vitrectomy for myopic foveoschisis, according to a study.The retrospective study included 42 eyes of 42 patients who underwent pars plana vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane peeling and gas tamponade for myopic foveoschisis with or without retinal detachment but without macular hole. Phakic eyes underwent cataract surgery.
