Endothelial cell density increases, cell area decreases up to 3 months after DALK

Endothelial cell density increased and cell area decreased in eyes that underwent uneventful deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty for keratoconus, according to a study.The prospective study included 201 eyes that underwent DALK with the Melles technique for significant keratoconus; data from 45 eyes were available for analysis of the effect of postoperative changes in corneal shape on endothelial cell profile measurements and changes in corneal endothelial cell profile measurements after 3 years.
