Femtosecond-assisted side-cut LASIK produces reduction of epithelial ingrowth

Lower incidence of epithelial ingrowth occurred in patients that underwent femtosecond laser-assisted side-cut LASIK versus primary LASIK with microkeratome flaps, according to a study.The comparative case series included 24 eyes of 18 patients for Group 1 that underwent femtosecond laser-assisted treatment with side cut only. Group 2 consisted of 103 eyes of 80 patients having retreatment using traditional flap-lift LASIK.
