Combined MICS, stent implantation sustains lowered IOP at 3 years

AMSTERDAM — Implantation with a single stent during microincisional cataract surgery produces a sustained, safe and effective surgical glaucoma treatment, according to one surgeon’s experience reported at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons meeting here.With 3 years of postoperative study data on patients with either open-angle glaucoma or pseudoexfoliative glaucoma and needing cataract surgery, Tobias H. Neuhann, MD, said that IOP was significantly reduced, resulting in 79% of patients at 16 mm Hg or less at month 36 and 74% being medication-free.
