In a systematic review and meta-analysis of published studies, Wan et al (p. 2197) assessed the efficacy and safety of topical cyclosporine versus placebo for the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis. They found that topical cyclosporine is indeed safe and effective. In addition, they suggest that it may have a role in weaning corticosteroid-dependent allergic conjunctivitis patients from their steroid eye drops.
