Salary type, workplace location affected PAs’ annual compensation

Physician assistants who are paid only a salary received a nationwide median annual compensation of $90,000, while those who are paid a base salary plus a bonus earned a median of $100,000, according to survey results from the American Academy of Physician Assistants.Physician assistant (PA) specialties, including dermatology, emergency medicine and surgery, had the highest median compensation levels ($117,000, $108,000 and $105,000, respectively), including both salary and bonuses, according to a press release. PAs who worked in primary care and family medicine reported smaller annual earnings ($94,000 and $93,400, respectively).
