Wavefront-guided PRK, wavefront-optimized PRK yield similar visual symptoms
Visual symptoms were similar after wavefront-guided PRK and wavefront-optimized PRK, but patients reported fewer symptoms after wavefront-optimized treatment, according to a study. The prospective randomized study included 142 eyes of 71 patients. One eye underwent wavefront-guided PRK with the Visx CustomVue S4 IR excimer laser (Abbott Medical Optics). Fellow eyes underwent wavefront-optimized PRK with the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q 400 Hz excimer laser (Alcon). Patients answered questionnaires on quality of vision and visual symptoms preoperatively and 1, 3, 6 and 12 months postoperatively.
