The Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System has been approved by Health Canada to treat patients with severe to profound outer retinal degeneration, according to a press release from Second Sight Medical Products.The Argus II induces visual perception in blind patients with electrical pulses to stimulate the retina's remaining cells, which results in perceptions of light patterns in the brain, the release said.
